With reference to your letter 3372/1917. Rated 18th Royal Irish Constabulary. Calling upon me to resign my position as Constable in the Hong-Kong Police.
I regret being unable to comply with this request as I have done nothing wrong to merit dismissal except volunteering for Active Service on the 6th August when the Empire needed men. Apparently I have paid the penalty for my patriotism, being rewarded with dismissal.
I would be thankful if Viscount Witherham would have my police records in the Royal Irish Constabulary and Hong Kong Police enquired into before giving me my discharge. It may help in finding suitable employment at a living wage within...
